Dive into the subconscious with artist Wewer Keohane’s Artful Dreaming. Today at 2:30 p.m. (MT), AAM Educator Vanessa Porras will lead you through a collage-making experience of a dream, a profound awake experience, or a poem to create a visual representation of it. Bring all of your arts and crafts, found materials, and photographs and join us in this unique art-making experience!

About the Artist:
Wewer was raised in Europe and worked in New York and D.C. before moving to Carbondale, Colorado in 1981 to pursue art and dream work. Wewer is the author of Artful Dreaming and holds PhDs in Creative Arts & Depth Psychology.

Wewer’s art is in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Brooklyn Library, Musee L’Eventail (Paris), and Powers Collection, among others. She is an Inaugural Fellow of the Aspen Art Museum and the founder of Art Saves Lives Scholarship Program at Carbondale Arts, Colorado. During the 2020 pandemic, she curated The Flash Card Project for Carbondale Arts, which included over 50 artists from Colorado and beyond.

Artist Statement:

“My quest is to make the invisible visible.” Through dreams, meditation, and journaling, I explore the subconscious for divine intervention and ideas that represent my authentic voice. Presently, I am working on a dream I named “Breakfast in Japan” using mixed media materials of old and discarded Japanese books, paints, used tea bags, and other found materials and papers to do my best to portray the felt sense of this truly life-changing dream.
