Hervé Télémaque: A Hopscotch of the Mind

Haiti-born, Paris-based Hervé Télémaque’s first US solo exhibition, A Hopscotch of the Mind, presents a non-linear exploration of his visual vocabulary from the 1950s to today. Using paintings, drawings, collages, objects, and assemblages, he brings together historical and literary references with those of consumer and popular culture.

Jeffrey Gibson: THE SPIRITS ARE LAUGHING

Jeffrey Gibson’s video and sculpture exhibition THE SPIRITS ARE LAUGHING evolves out of conversations around Indigenous kinship philosophy—the idea of engaging with the land as an extension of one’s own family or oneself and looking at everything in our surroundings as an equal living entity.

Sanya Kantarovsky: A Solid House

Sanya Kantarovsky’s video A Solid House (2022) presents a fragmented narrative that follows the machinations of a humanoid being seemingly marooned in an affluent domestic environment. The video incorporates a voiceover monologue adapted from Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Chögyam Trungpa’s seminal series of talks entitled Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism (1973) and functions as both a critical essay and meditation on the human ego’s entanglement with spirituality, cruelty, aesthetics, and class.

Shadow Tracer: Works on Paper

Using works that engage the space of fantasy and the subconscious as a point of departure, Shadow Tracer: Works on Paper considers the ways artists express their interior worlds. Placing recent works by Carmen Argote, Naotaka Hiro, Hanna Hur, Jutta Koether, Joshua AM Ross, and Maja Ruznic in dialogue, this show explores how these artists employ the medium of drawing to explore this theme. These pieces comprise drawing, sculpture, and performance documentation that invoke the contemplative and the spiritual, marking moments both metaphorical and speculative.

Mungo Thomson: Sculptures

Mungo Thomson’s Sculptures is a meditation on the passage of time and ways of seeing through book images. The exhibition presents the artist’s stop-motion animation Sideways Thought (2020–22), laying out French sculptor Auguste Rodin’s (1840–1917) complete works as photographed and printed in art history monographs.
