Elmgreen & Dragset: It’s Never Too Late to Say Sorry

Nov 16, 2018-May 19, 2019
Since 1995, Danish artist Michael Elmgreen and Norwegian artist Ingar Dragset have been collaborating under the name Elmgreen & Dragset. Creating sculptures, installations, and performances that draw connections between art and architecture, public and private space, their work poses questions about how art is exhibited and experienced. Presented on the Crown Commons, Elmgreen & Dragset’s It’s Never Too Late to Say Sorry consists of a display case containing a polished aluminum megaphone on a granite pedestal. Every day at noon, a man will appear at the case, open the door, take out the megaphone, and shout: “It’s never too late to say sorry.” Both sculptural and performative, It’s Never Too Late is an evocative reminder of the power of language, gesture, and action.
AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. General exhibition support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Visiting Artist Fund. Additional support is provided by the AAM National Council.
