Colombian-born, London-based artist Oscar Murillo is known for a diverse body of work that uses his own personal experiences as a point of departure for exploring the conditions and dynamics of globalization and cultural exchange. Through large-scale paintings and intricate, immersive installations that combine video, sculpture, drawing, and performance, Murillo creates vibrant, multisensory experiences that engage with the space of its exhibition and mobilize visitors to actively engage with larger cultural concerns. In so doing, Murillo creates sites of inclusiveness while making powerful and timely social and political observations about the world around us. For his solo AAM presentation, Murillo will present a new body of work that addresses similar themes.
This exhibition is curated by Heidi Zuckerman, former Aspen Art Museum Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director.
