Dave Muller

Nov 22, 2012-Sep 2, 2013

Los Angeles–based artist Dave Muller is known for his wall drawings and large-scale works on paper that employ iconic structures such as the top-ten list to create diagrammatic but uniquely personal portraits based on the musical passions of their subjects. Stemming from his deep love of music and the communal dialogue it generates across generations and cultures, Muller’s work deftly translates these concerns into aesthetic form. As one critic recently put it, Muller’s work is about the good things that make life worth living—good music, good friends, a little messiness, a lot of color, and a lot of fun.

For the 2012–13 ski season, Muller has created a site-specific wall drawing for the new restaurant at Elk Camp on Snowmass Mountain. Muller’s installation opens to the public on the season’s opening day. The wall painting is based on a brief questionnaire e-mailed from the artist to Aspen Skiing Company employees in which he inquired about their favorite albums of all time as well as their height.

Dave Muller’s installation is organized by the AAM in collaboration with the Aspen Skiing Company.
