The first solo museum survey in the US of artist Chris Ofili encompasses five galleries over three levels of the Aspen Art Museum, showcasing his vibrant paintings, drawings, and a selection of sculptures. Organized by Massimiliano Gioni, Gary Carrion-Murayari, and Margot Norton at the New Museum, New York, the exhibition spans Ofili’s influential career from 1992 to the present. Juxtaposing figuration and abstraction, as well as the sacred and the profane, Ofili’s work examines the power of images and their ability to address fundamental questions of representation.
