Aspen Art Museum

Every visitor brings unique abilities, skills, perspectives, and knowledge to their museum experience. Our access programs consider this wide range of needs and we design welcoming experiences for visitors with different physical, cognitive, and social abilities. The Aspen Art Museum is ADA–accessible and receives guidance from our Access Community Advisory Committee on how to further make the museum a welcoming environment for all.

For visitors on the Autism spectrum and with developmental disabilities
Under the guidance of our community partners, the AAM provides regular programs with the clients of Ascendigo Autism Services and Mountain Valley Developmental Services.

Families, teachers, and other service providers that support youth and adults on the Autism spectrum can prepare for a visit to the museum with a social narrative. This document is a step-by-step guide of what to expect at the AAM with photographs and descriptions, ideal for visitors on the Autism spectrum and those who benefit from having clear expectations. For visitors with low or no vision
Verbal description tours and tours in American Sign Language can be scheduled with advance notice. Please contact accessability@aspenartmuseum.org for additional information.

For visitors with special needs
We are able to accommodate visitors with special needs to the best of our ability with advance arrangements through our Education Department.
