HOURS AND ARRIVAL

Aspen Art Museum is open from 10 AM to 6 PM daily from Tuesday–Sunday.
Admission to the AAM is free courtesy of Amy and John Phelan.

Use the main entrance of the Marx Phelan Building on East Hyman Avenue and be greeted by our front desk for information on the exhibitions on view.

WHILE YOU’RE HERE

Our Education Workshop is an interactive area designed for personal reflection and hands-on engagement. This space offers books, games, and art activities tailored for younger toddlers while remaining open to all age groups. Come explore!

Possession Obsession is a specially curated shop in the Lower Level of the Aspen Art Museum that includes unique items for all ages and artist-made souvenirs. Purchases support the artists and Aspen Art Museum’s artistic and public programs. Aspen Art Museum members receive a 10% discount.

The Rooftop Café is open for lunch and brunch. More information about the Rooftop Café is available here. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations can be made for large groups. Aspen Art Museum Members receive discounts at the café. For additional information regarding the Rooftop Café, please call 970.925.8050.

Complimentary wheelchairs are ready for use at all museum entrances on a first-come, first-served arrangement. If you have any inquiries or need help, don’t hesitate to approach our staff. Additionally, portable stools can be borrowed at no cost and are accessible by asking any staff member at the main lobby. HEALTH AND SAFETY

COVID-19 vaccination and masks are no longer required but strongly recommended for all visitors.

Your health and safety are our priority, however, we cannot guarantee you won’t be exposed to COVID-19. By entering the Aspen Art Museum, you assume the risk of such exposure.

Please contact your healthcare provider and do not visit the museum if you feel sick or have a cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, fever, chills, loss of smell, or muscle pain, or if you have been exposed to COVID-19.

We’re committed to working together to create a safe experience for our team and visitors, and our professionally trained staff are here to help you. We have a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who endanger staff, visitors, artwork, or any museum property, or who engage in verbal or physical harassment, discriminatory or threatening behavior, or otherwise interfere with the experience of others. The museum will refuse or revoke admission to individuals who violate these policies. For everyone’s safety, please follow the instructions of security officers.

SERVICE ANIMALS Service animals are welcome at the AAM. The ADA defines a service animal as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. Service animals matching these criteria are allowed in the galleries. Pets or companions are not allowed in the museum. Emotional support animals are not service animals. PARKING Street parking is available on the city blocks around the museum, with handicapped spaces available on South Spring Street. Parking is also available at the nearby Rio Grande Parking Garage. BIKE & BIKE SHOE, SKI RACKS & SKI BOOTS Season-dependent bike and ski racks are located on South Spring Street. For safety reasons, ski boots and cleated bike shoes are not allowed in the museum; the museum provides slippers at the Visitor Information Desk on the Street Level for your convenience. BAG & COAT CHECK For your convenience and the safety of the artwork, we always encourage bags and coats to be checked into the coat room located at Street Level. We do require all backpacks and bags larger than 12 x 7 x 14 inches (width x depth x length; 30.5 x 17.8 x 35.6 cm) to be checked. Coats must also be checked unless worn throughout the entirety of your visit. Visitors are responsible for removing all valuables from their bags before storing them. STROLLERS We encourage you to store your stroller in the coat room. FOOD & DRINK Outside food and drinks are 
not permitted in the museum. Beverages and food are available for purchase at the Rooftop Café on Level 3 and are only permitted in the café—they may not be carried into the galleries or other areas. Special requests may be accommodated in the Education Workshop with advance arrangements. ARTWORK We ask that visitors do not touch the artwork or stand closer than two feet of any piece unless otherwise noted or requested by a Guide. GUIDES During your visit, you will find museum staff throughout the building. Guides are happy to answer any questions you may have—whether it’s about the art on view, where the nearest restroom is, or where to find a place to sit. RESTROOMS Restrooms are located on Street Level, Level 3, and the Lower Level of the museum; they are all wheelchair-accessible and most have baby-changing stations. All-gender restrooms are located on the Lower Level and Level 3. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO Personal photography is welcome in most of the museum’s public spaces and galleries. Exceptions to this are noted with the no-photography icon either near the artwork label or prior to entering the gallery. Flash and tripods or other equipment are not permitted. For any and all commercial or nonpersonal photography, contact our Communications Department for permission in advance: aroldan@aspenartmuseum.org or 970.925.8050. SKETCHING Sketching with a pencil is permitted in the galleries unless otherwise noted. Sketchpads should be no larger than 8 1⁄2 x 11 inches (21.6 x 27.9 cm); ink, paint, markers, or easels are prohibited. CELL PHONES While cell phones are permitted in the museum, out of respect for other visitors, we ask that you please take calls or have conversations outside of the galleries. WIRELESS ACCESS Complimentary wireless access is available at the Rooftop Café on Level 3. SMOKING Smoking of any kind, including the use of e-cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere in the museum. This will set off our fire alarms and the whole building must be evacuated. WEAPONS Firearms, explosives, or other dangerous or deadly weapons carried either openly or concealed are not permitted on the premises. This applies to all visitors, including those with firearm permits, but not to active law enforcement personnel authorized to carry firearms.
