Since 2005, the Aspen Art Museum
and the Aspen Skiing Company have collaborated to bring contemporary art to audiences in unexpected places. Each year, an artist is commissioned to produce artworks that are used on lift tickets for the winter season.
Create Your Own Lift Ticket workshops are offered throughout the season for kids and families to respond to these designs by creating a personal lift ticket with the help of AAM educators.
Winter Workshops are designed for children ages 4–10 to explore contemporary art. In the spirit of providing a laboratory for young artists, this year’s Winter Workshops take a free, choice-based approach that allows participants time to imagine, experiment, and make, sparked by experiences in the galleries. Sessions can be experienced as stand-alone classes or as part of a three-day workshop. Exhibition Focus: Anna Sew Hoy Magnetic Between
In A Space Program, internationally acclaimed artist Tom Sachs takes us on an intricately handmade journey to the red planet, providing audiences with an intimate, first-person look into his studio and methods. The film is a recording of Sachs’s historic piece, Space Program 2.0: MARS, which opened at New York’s Park Avenue Armory in 2012. This free, special preview is being presented before the film’s theatrical release in March 2016, and will feature an introduction by Tom Sachs.
