This after-school program for kids in grades K–4 is held weekly at the Aspen Art Museum from September through May. Taking place most Wednesdays from 2:30–4 p.m., these workshops recognize the value of exposing children to the arts at an early age and use the artist’s process as an educational tool. Museum educators and teaching artists lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.
Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration is strongly encouraged.
Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Youth Center, this free special event provides games, pizza, and a chance to make new friends through art. This event will also launch the applications for Generation Zine.
This season, the AAM’s Movies at the Museum program highlights the theme “Eye in the Sky.” Over the years, depictions of surveillance have been one of cinema’s go-to methods for creating tension. Exploring the boundaries of privacy, feelings of alienation, and the paranoia of espionage, these films invite viewers to examine their own relationships between private and public.

The Aspen Art Museum offers a special invitation for a private tour and gathering in the Roof Deck Sculpture Garden to all Aspen Gay Ski Week attendees. On January 23, from 2–2:45 p.m., AAM Learning Director Michelle Dezember will host a free, private tour through the exhibitions, with time to take in mountain views from the top. The museum is also offering 20 percent off all day at SO, our roof-deck café, for anyone participating in Aspen Gay Ski Week.
