Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
All ages are invited to meet David Goldin, author/illustrator of Meet Me at the Art Museum, as he provides a presentation of his studio process as well as a reading and signing of his book. This free program encourages budding youth and adult bookmakers alike to explore storytelling. AAM Members are invited to stay on to create a collage with Goldin that they can include in his traveling museum.
What can you say with a squiggle? Children will play with different forms of drawing, filling white spaces with curls, twists, wiggles, and loops. Whether by scribbles or squiggles both large and small, layer after layer of these loops and hoops will illuminate unique stories on paper.
Experience art outdoors! Taking note from the Lynda Benglis artworks installed in the Roof Deck Sculpture Garden, we’ll create our own unique outdoor sculptures. Inspired by nature and our beautiful surroundings, participants will learn a variety of sculptural techniques using both traditional and nontraditional materials. Creativity and imagination will run wild in the summer sun!

A modern-day Romeo and Juliet musical romance set against the backdrop of street gangs battling for turf on the harsh streets of the Upper West Side. The situation becomes complicated when a gang member falls in love with a rival’s sister.
This advanced Workshop for teens considering a career in fashion will cultivate a personal sense of style and brand. Throughout the week, teens will move independently through all steps of the design process to create a highly personal and wearable work of art. This Workshop includes a professional fashion shoot and culminates in a runway show for family and friends. Prior experience with a sewing machine encouraged.
After taking a trip to visit Shinique Smith’s installation Resonant Tides (2015) at Elk Camp in Snowmass, Workshop participants will have the chance to create their own mountain-inspired collaborative mural that will be presented at the Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade. Students will learn painting and drawing techniques that apply to artworks of all sizes. Participation in the 4th of July parade is strongly encouraged.
