Join Claire Lyons, Curator of Antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum, for insight into the importance of context and display of antiquities. She will draw connections to Haris Epaminonda’s installations, which carefully pair artifacts from different cultures and eras to reconfigure our understanding of how the past and present relate.
In a dusty, under-populated California resort town, a naïve southern waif, Pinky Rose (Sissy Spacek), idolizes and befriends her fellow nurse, Millie Lammoreaux (Shelley Duvall). Create larger-than-life works in this playful mixed media Workshop focusing on proportion and scale. We’ll work together to design sizable works in bold colors and patterns that will make a big impact and stretch our perceptions of what art can be.

We will respond to creative challenges in the galleries, studio, and outdoors that hone our large-scale drawing skills. Throughout the week, we will explore techniques of shadowing, perspective, and contouring inspired by larger-than-life artworks and artists.
