In collaboration with our presenting community partner Aspen Film and Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS), the AAM is proud to host two screenings of the newly restored 1959 classic Jazz on a Summer’s Day, considered one of the most extraordinary—and possibly the first—concert films ever made.

Filmed at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island, and directed by world-renowned photographer Bert Stern, the film features intimate performances by such musical legends as Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O'Day, Chuck Berry, Dinah Washington, and Mahalia Jackson. Recently premiered at the 57th New York Film Festival, its presentations there were met enthusiastically with sold-out shows.

Snacks, beer, and wine are available for purchase courtesy of AAM culinary partners Julia and Allen Domingos. Tables accommodate up to 4 people. Guests will be seated at 2 or 4-tops, and Aspen Film is happy to address specific requests for seating with other parties by emailing info@aspenfilm.org.

Tickets are $35 for general public, $30 for members of Aspen Film/AAM/JAS https://aspenfilm.org/jazz-on-a-summers-day/
