Since 2005, the Aspen Art Museum’s Young Curators of the Roaring Fork (YCRF) program has engaged high school students in direct exposure to a collection of world-class exhibitions, artists, and ideas of a contemporary art museum.
Through the course of the six-month program, YCRF interns work directly with the museum’s education and curatorial staff, ultimately building aesthetic valuation, leadership, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
After participants developed the exhibition theme “raw,” YCRF interns led a call for submissions and assembled an exhibition of their peers’ artworks. An opening and reception is held to celebrate this student-driven initiative.
The Young Curators of the Roaring Fork exhibition runs from March 15–29.
AAM education programs are made possible by the Questrom Education Fund.
