This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.
Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration strongly encouraged.
Artists in the Making offers middle school students the opportunity to develop specialized skills driven by self-innovation. A museum Educator works with each student to create a uniquely tailored experience that concludes with a celebratory showcase for friends and family.

Drawing on the wealth of Spanish speakers in the Roaring Fork Valley, the museum presents an afternoon of activities for all ages, entirely in Spanish. Featuring guided tours, family art-making activities, and more, this special event is free and open to the public en Español.

Artists in the Making is an eight-week program that offers middle school students in Aspen and Basalt the opportunity to develop specialized skills driven by self-innovation. Community experts who visit select sessions and mentor students work in tandem with an AAM Educator to create a uniquely tailored experience that concludes with a celebratory showcase for friends and family. The AAM is celebrating the opening of “Zombies: Pay Attention!” (Galleries 4, 5, and 6) and Robert Montgomery’s “The City in Their Echo” (Roof Deck Sculpture Garden) on Thursday, December 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with a gallery walkthrough with the AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director, Heidi Zuckerman! Join us for delicious snacks from SO Café, free wine and beer, a pop-up by the AAM Shop featuring new artist editions, music by GOLDEN, and a complimentary art-making activity for all ages on Level 3.
