One of William Shakespeare’s most adapted plays, Romeo and Juliet receives an ultramodern treatment in this nineties classic, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Set in the futuristic urban backdrop of “Verona Beach,” Romeo meets Juliet while crashing a costume party, and the two then grapple with their feuding families in order for their love—and their lives—to survive.
Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Art and writing go hand-in-hand in this “wordshop,” inspired by the mixed-media artwork of Rashid Johnson. Combine poetry with paint to create new and inspirational works of art that capture the spirit of your favorite vacation destinations!
New York, London, Japan, Aspen! Expand your skills, style, and friendships in this advanced workshop for teens. Students will be given the tools and materials needed to conceive and create haute-couture fashion, while stretching teen fashion trends found around the globe with classical garment construction. These unique fashions will be presented to friends and family at an end-of-week Fashion Show.
Taking inspiration from the Lebanese artist and poet, Etel Adnan, artists in this painting workshop will use brushstrokes to bring memories to life. Recollections of special places, both real and imagined, will appear as ink moves across paper, colors shape canvas, and words and images join together in unique folding books.
Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), this free chamber concert series features one-hour performances by the most advanced AMFS students and visiting musicians in Aspen.
