Let’s find out what dots can do in this workshop dedicated to the application of dots in all colors and sizes, from traditional polka dots to glittery splotches. Young artists will marvel as bold compositions take on lives of their own. One thing is certain—these artworks will vibrate and pop!

Adventure is all around us, and this workshop is no exception! Join us on explorations in this action-packed camp full of hiking and soaking in the scenes around us to help provide inspiration for beautiful outdoor-themed works of art.

Dive into Op art through various forms of media, repetition, and creativity! Inspired by John Armleder’s optical illusion works, you will create your own piece of art that makes people look twice!

Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), this free chamber concert series features one-hour performances by the most advanced AMFS students and visiting musicians in Aspen.

From July 10–14, Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a temporary mandala sand painting on Level 3 of the Aspen Art Museum as part of their annual visit to Aspen. Visitors are invited to watch the creation of this temporal artwork during regular museum hours. Please join us for the following special events, which are also free and open to the public:

Oscar Murillo was born in La Paila, Colombia, in 1986, and lives and works in London. His paintings, video works, and actions are tied to a notion of community stemming from the artist’s cross-cultural ties to diverse cities. His work has been the subject of solo presentations at Haus der Kunst, Munich, Yarat Art Centre, Baku, Azerbaijan, Nouveau Musée National Monaco, and Museo de Arte, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá.

Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children ages 3–10 and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.
