Teen Council meetings happen every other Tuesday from August to May. Through this program led by AAM Educator, Elisabeth Strunk, local teenagers create and implement events for their peers. The Council follows the motto, “For teens, by teens,” to make the Aspen Art Museum a fun place for youth in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Join us this Wednesday as we teach you how to decorate the cover of your gratitude journal for November. We will guide you through each step of the process to make your journal uniquely yours!
The Teen Curators program allows participants to gain insight into different styles of curatorial practice. In this brand-new iteration of what has become a signature AAM highlight for teens, each curator will design their own creative project with support from museum staff.
Teen Artists will meet with and learn from AAM staff, guest artists, and our creative community partners at Anderson Ranch. They will explore and build their art-making skills and present their work to the public in the spring.
Two one hour sessions on Fridays
2:30-3:30pm and 4-5pm
Roaring Fork Valley artists are invited to join us for a cup of coffee and our second iteration of a brand-new series of weekly Friday afternoon artist gatherings at the AAM.
kids ages 0–5, with adults
Let’s take a walk outside the museum and gather supplies as the leaves all around us change to beautiful colors of red and gold. Then we’ll paint and recreate what we see inside an egg carton!
Want to make a simple accordion style journal? This Wednesday, we will walk you through the simple steps of binding signatures together to make a beautiful book!
We are delighted to invite you to our next iteration in our “How To…” series with an inside look at how to spot and nurture artistic talent with Simon Castets.
Simon Castets is the director and curator of the Swiss Institute, a leading non-profit organization in New York. The young French curator is known for “89plus,” a research project launched in collaboration with Serpentine Gallery director Hans Ulrich Obrist in 2013 chronicling the creative work of artists and other innovators born in or after 1989. Castets has also curated shows for other organizations, including Rachel Rose at the Aspen Art Museum in 2016.

Taking inspiration from AAM exhibiting artist Barbara Kasten’s colorful installations and photographs, we extend a special invitation to our community partners at Ascendigo Autism Services and all other families with children on the autism spectrum. Artmaking will be tailored to encourage all art abilities and to celebrate the different ways we see and experience the world. Participants will combine geometric paper shapes and recycled props to create temporary tabletop stage sets. Attendees, please bring mobile devices to photograph the artworks and stage set created!
