PreK children (ages 4 – 5 years) are invited to join us at the AAM for a week of creating art and making music! The AAM and Aspen Music Festival and School will be collaborating to provide kids with the chance to make their own instruments and design their own performance for a celebration at the end of the week.
When creating a linocut, the size of your gouges matter! Join AAM Educator Vanessa Porras today at 2:30 p.m. (MT) for a demo on making different gouge sizes and the different patterns and textures one can achieve through use of cutting tools. We’ll also be taking a close look at artist José Lopez ‘s prints to learn about the various carving techniques he uses to create dimension.

The AAM welcomes the community to participate in an art-making workshop hosted on Level 3! Planned in collaboration with the museum’s Access Community Advisory Council, this workshop will focus on forms of expression and include art making activities for all ages. Gallery tours will be offered in American Sign Language, English, and Spanish.

Children ages 6 – 8 years are invited to join us for art adventures at the AAM. Inspired by art and the natural world around us, come ready to create artwork incorporating written word! The week will end with a celebration which includes a poetry slam!
Printing a relief print is an art in-and-of itself. Everything matters, from the type of ink to the paper you use. Today, at 2:30 p.m. (MT), AAM Educator Vanessa Porras will dive into artist José Lopez’s methods of printing and creating editions. You’ll also learn simple at-home techniques that will allow you to print without a press!
Imprimir una placa en relieve es un arte en sí mismo. Todo importa, desde el tipo de tinta que utilizas hasta el papel. Hoy, a las 2:30 pm MT, la educadora de AAM, Vanessa Porras, se sumergirá en los métodos de impresión y creación de ediciones de José Lopez. Join us at 2:30pm MT for Art Studio Live! We’ll be finishing up our prints with a quick demonstration on how to add gold leaf with AAM educator Vanessa. Learn about the different ways to edition your prints inspired by artist José Lopez’s methods. We’ll have time to answer printmaking questions. Hope to see you there!

What can we learn by looking closely?
Join guest artist Don Stuber for a morning of observation, conversation, and creativity. Starting at the Walter Isaacson Center, we’ll take an easy stroll to Stone River, built by renowned British artist Andy Goldsworthy, and end at a small shaded pond. Participants will be encouraged to explore their natural surroundings using microscopic hand lenses and create art inspired by their observations.
