      Arte en Español

      Drawing on the wealth of Spanish speakers in the Roaring Fork Valley, the museum presents an afternoon of activities for all ages, entirely in Spanish. Featuring guided tours, family art-making activities, and more, this special event is free and open to the public en Español.

    • Roll up your sleeves for pinching, twisting, carving, and squishing clay! Working individually and collaboratively over the course of this two-week Workshop, we’ll plan and problem-solve to create a variety of functional and decorative sculptures to be used at an outlandish tea party for family and friends at the end of the session.

    • Discover the wonders of summer in this painting Workshop designed for the curious young artist. Through guided exploration, we will uncover the flora and fauna at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ Hallam Lake nature preserve, using our brushes and paints to capture a series of unique summer scenes on canvas.

    • As an introduction to the work of American artist Wade Guyton (b. 1972), and Swiss artists Peter Fischli (b. 1952) and David Weiss (1946–2012), known together as Fischli and Weiss, and the forthcoming building-wide collaboration Wade Guyton Peter Fischli David Weiss, the Aspen Art Museum and Aspen Film copresent an evening of the artists’ films.

    • Break out of the mold by using traditional sculpture methods and materials to create greener spaces. Inspired by the artworks of Fischli and Weiss, we will use concrete and plaster to fabricate a variety of built landscapes for natural environments, inspired by the plant and animal life found in and around Aspen Center for Environmental Studies’ Hallam Lake.

      Join us on Wednesday, June 21, at 5:30 p.m. for a members’ walkthrough of the museum’s building-wide summer exhibition Wade Guyton Peter Fischli David Weiss with AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director, Heidi Zuckerman, and artists Wade Guyton and Peter Fischli. Opening Reception to follow at 6:30 p.m.

      Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • Anna Gaskell was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1969, and currently lives and works in New York. Her carefully planned photographs, films, and drawings are often self-reflective, ethereal, and dream-like. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, the Menil Collection, Houston, Des Moines Art Center, and Aspen Art Museum.
