In this special performance, Marc Ribot presents a live guitar score to the classic silent film, The Kid, contemporizing this classic Chaplin film to a story relevant to the economic and social conditions of today. Ribot, who Rolling Stone describes as “emotive, graceful, but with a glint of mischief in his method,” has released over twenty albums and performed with Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello, and more.
Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Progress takes an unexpected path in this wacky Workshop. We will start the Workshop exploring performance art and creating giveaway artworks that form a float to be marched down Main Street during the Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade. Over the course of the rest of the week, we will create personal artworks in a variety of media to share with others. (Note: class on July 4 ends after parade.)

From July 5–9, Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a temporary mandala sand painting on Level 3 of the Aspen Art Museum as part of their annual visit to Aspen. Visitors are invited to watch the creation of this temporal artwork during regular museum hours.
Nicole Eisenman was born in Verdun, France, in 1965, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. A recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship, Eisenman works in a diverse range of media to explore the representation of the human form and its cultural significance. In 2014, she was the subject of a midcareer retrospective organized by the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, which also traveled to the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. Solo presentations of her work have also been presented at the New Museum, New York, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, and the Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs.
