This monthlong program for kids at the K–4 grade level is held weekly at the Aspen Art Museum. Taking place after school most Wednesdays from 2:30–4 p.m., these workshops recognize the value of exposing children to the arts at an early age and use the artist’s process as an educational tool. Museum educators and teaching artists lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

Drawing on the wealth of Spanish speakers in the Roaring Fork Valley, the museum presents a special tour for all ages, entirely in Spanish.
After participants developed the exhibition theme “raw,” YCRF interns led a call for submissions and assembled an exhibition of their peers’ artworks. An opening and reception is held to celebrate this student-driven initiative.
The Young Curators of the Roaring Fork exhibition runs from March 15–29.
Active Art is a monthly program that provides older adults in the Roaring Fork Valley seasonal opportunities to access and engage with contemporary art and the wider community through art appreciation classes, museum tours, art-making activities, and collaborations. Active Art takes place in seasonal cycles over three sessions, culminating this season at the Young Curators of the Roaring Fork exhibition opening.

Taking place after school most Tuesdays from 3:30–5 p.m., these open-choice workshops provide the creative room for kids to explore who they are through individual and collaborative projects and art. Led by museum educators and teaching artists, participants have direct access to contemporary artists, artworks, and themes.

In a night of artistic expression orchestrated by the Young Curators (by teens for teens), this Open-Mic Night features artist talks from the exhibition as well as an open-call format for local music, poetry, and other creative forms to be shared on stage.

Join us on Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m. for an opening reception for three new exhibitions: Rodney McMillian’s Landscape Paintings, Second Chances, and Stories We Tell Ourselves. There is a 5 p.m. members’ walkthrough with artist Rodney McMillian, MoMA Associate Curator Thomas Lax, and AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director Heidi Zuckerman.
